Sir Cliff Richard has received treatment for prostate cancer for the past year.
The 85-year-old singer revealed on Good Morning Britain on Monday that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer while undergoing a routine health test before a tour.
"I was about to embark on a tour which in fact ended this time at the Royal Albert Hall (in London)," he told broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan. "But I was going to Australia and to New Zealand, and the promoter said, 'Well, we need for your insurance, you need to be checked up for something.' They found that I had prostate cancer.
"But the good fortune was that it was not very old, and the other thing is that it has not metastasised. Nothing had moved into bones or anything like that."
The Summer Holiday singer revealed that the cancer was "gone at the moment", but he didn't know if it was "going to come back".
"We can't tell those sort of things, but we need to, absolutely, I'm convinced, get there, get tested, get checked," he added.
Richard also criticised the recent decision not to introduce a national prostate cancer screening programme for men in the U.K., calling it "absolutely ridiculous".
"We all deserve to have the same ability to have a test and then start treatments really early," he stated. "It seems to me - I've only been for one year now in touch with cancer, but every time I've talked with anybody, this has come up, and so I think our government must listen to us."
The singer added that he would like to work with King Charles III, after the monarch spoke out about his cancer battle and emphasised the importance of early diagnosis in a Stand Up to Cancer video on Friday.
"I've been involved with many charities over the years, and if the King is happy to front it for us, I'm sure loads of people, I certainly would join him. If the King is listening, I think most of us would say yeah - we're available!" he declared.
In his video, the King - who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 - revealed in Friday's update that his cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year.
Richard revealed his news to Murnaghan, who announced in June that he has stage four prostate cancer.
