Iconic British band James has officially teased the release of their first-ever authorized documentary, titled Getting Away With It. The film is slated for release in 2026, with the promise of full details to be revealed early next year, sending anticipation soaring among their dedicated global fanbase.
The announcement today (November 27) follows a busy period for the band, who have just released Nothing But Love - The Definitive Best Of. Out now via UMR, this career-spanning compilation meticulously chronicles James’ journey, documenting their progression from early singles and fan favourites to special selections personally chosen by the band members. The collection also includes two brand new tracks, "Wake Up Superman" and "Hallelujah Anyhow," both produced by Leo Abrahams, who previously worked on their 2024 UK Number 1 album, Yummy.
Nothing But Love is available in several formats, including a 3CD deluxe set which offers a chronological history of the band and features exclusive track commentary from the members. Notably, this set marks the first time the original "Sit Down (Rough Trade Version)" has been available on DSPs and for purchase in 35 years. For vinyl enthusiasts, a 5LP set—including tracks from Yummy—is available, boasting 14 tracks and versions never before released on vinyl.
Looking ahead, James is also preparing for their biggest ever arena tour in 2026, the LOVE IS THE ANSWER TOUR. The extensive run of dates across April will feature very special guests, Doves, and culminates in a massive homecoming show at the 20,000-capacity Co-op Live in Manchester. This documentary, combined with the new compilation and major tour, solidifies 2026 as a landmark year for the enduring band.
