Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Katie Melua has released a previously unheard track, ‘I Dine Alone (Early Demo),’ taken from the forthcoming 20th-anniversary reissue of her multi-platinum selling second album, Piece By Piece. The reissue is set for release on December 5th via BMG.
Released when Melua was just 21, Piece By Piece solidified her status as one of the UK’s most successful young artists. The album featured the international classic ‘Nine Million Bicycles’ and effortlessly blended folk, blues, pop, and jazz influences, resonating with audiences worldwide and achieving multi-platinum status across Europe.
The newly released demo, ‘I Dine Alone (Early Demo),’ has never been heard or performed live before and has been meticulously remastered from Melua's personal archive.
The complete Piece By Piece (20th Anniversary Remaster) has been remastered at London’s Metropolis Studios and expanded into a 22-track collection. The bonus material includes a wealth of b-sides, live performances, and unreleased demo recordings, offering fans a fresh glimpse into the pivotal era of Melua’s early career. The anniversary edition is available as a Limited-Edition Double Vinyl LP and a 2CD album.
Reflecting on the milestone, Katie Melua said, “Piece by Piece was where I really began to understand who I was as an artist. It marked the moment I started truly creating and finding the confidence to express myself.” She added that she is proud that the work "still means so much to people."
Melua has amassed 56 platinum certifications over her glittering two-decade career, following her chart-topping debut Call Off The Search and releasing eight consecutive Top 10 UK albums.
