Speaking with Radio X’s John Kennedy on Friday Night, Wet Leg’s Rhian Teasdale and Josh Mabaraki confirmed that the band’s third album is ‘done’ ahead of them playing several huge outdoor shows next year. Discussing the gigs in front of them next year, the pair say that headlining venues like the Alexandra Palace is ‘like a dream that’s so big you’re not even allowed to dream about it!’

Wet Leg confirm that album number three is ‘done’
JK: “And in terms of thinking about a third record…?”
RT: “It’s done.”
JK: “It’s done? Amazing. Where on Earth did you find the time to do that?”
RT: “I know.”
JM: “Not on Earth!”
JK: “Wow! First band to record in space.”
JM: “Yeah, yeah.”
RT: “Katy Perry was there. It was amazing!”
JK: “Haha! It sounds sensational. I hope you filmed some of it so you can share!”
Wet Leg say playing huge outdoor venues next year is like ‘a dream so big you’re not allowed to dream about it’
JK: “I wondered what it’s going to be like doing these massive headline shows on your own outside in the UK? You know, are you going to have to rethink the show even further?”
RT: “I don’t know if we’ll rethink it. I think we’ll still be on a Moisturizer flex, but certainly to fill that kind of size venue, you know, you do have to think about the show a little bit more and how it’s going to be adapted for, you know, like, thirteen-thousand people.”
JK: “That’s a lot of people.”
RT: “It’s crazy.”
JK: “Yeah.”
RT: “So, yeah. Onwards and upwards. Yeah.”
JK: “Has it been exciting, because this is an opportunity to realise something that had been a bit of a fantasy, maybe, in a previous life? You know, the idea that you would be headliners of outdoor events playing to thousands and thousands of people.”
RT: “I don’t even… Did you ever fantasise about that?”
JM: “I think it’s like a dream that’s so big you’re not even allowed to dream about it, because it’s like, what are you even going to do with that?”
JK: “Yeah.”
JM: “I mean, it’s happened and you’re, like, here. You know, and the last album’s cycle, and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s happening!’ This is like happening even bigger than we thought – or at least I thought – it would happen. I don’t really know what to do with myself. I’m just sort of, like, going with it. But yeah, this time around it is kind of, I don’t know, maybe more intentional, which I think I quite like seeing that with bands, with other bands. I like seeing the progression and stuff and it’s really good to look back and rather than be like not cringing about what we did last time but instead, like, ‘Oh, we’re babies. We’re tiny babies!’ Because literally like a year ago or whatever we were on that tour. Two years ago.”
