Benson Boone has poked fun at himself after receiving zero Grammy Awards nominations.
The Beautiful Things hitmaker was in the running for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards but failed to garner any nods for the upcoming 2026 prizegiving when the nominations were announced last Friday.
Taking to his Instagram Stories earlier this week, Benson posted a selfie and made a joke about the snub.
"Can't believe moonbeam ice cream didn't get a Grammy nom," he wrote, referencing the viral lyric from the song Mystical Magical from his American Heart album.
"It's literally pure lyrical genius," the 23-year-old added.
Reflecting on how he and co-writer Jack LaFrantz dreamed up the viral lyric during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June, Benson noted he was really happy with the whimsical way the words sounded together.
"I write pretty much everything with Jack," he stated. "Jack's sitting there and he just goes, 'You know, what if you just did this?' It looked like he was going to say something really good and then he goes, 'Moonbeam ice cream, taking off your blue jeans!' We went home and listened to it. I was like, 'Moonbeam ice cream? I'll take it!'"
Kendrick Lamar leads this year's nominations with nine, while other top contenders include Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, and Bad Bunny.
However, a number of major artists missed out on nods, such as Lorde and The Weeknd.
The 2026 Grammy Awards will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on 1 February.
