Fresh off the success of his ninth UK No. 1 album, Play, global superstar Ed Sheeran is expanding his sonic universe with the release of the 'Play – The Remixes EP.' This new project, born from his transformative month-long stay in India, is a vibrant cross-cultural collaboration featuring some of South Asia's most celebrated talents.
Leading the release is the hypnotic new track, “Symmetry,” featuring Punjabi star Karan Aujla. The official video for “Symmetry,” directed by Liam Pethick, showcases a high-energy performance by Sheeran, Aujla, and the globally renowned dance crew The Quick Style, blending their creative energies into a powerful visual display.
The EP reimagines four tracks from the original Play album, fusing pop sensibilities with diverse Asian sounds. Collaborators include the acclaimed rapper Hanumankind, Tamil vocalist Dhee, composer Santhosh Narayanan, singer Jonita, and, of course, Karan Aujla. The EP also features a new version of the half-a-billion-streaming hit “Sapphire,” now featuring Arijit Singh.
Sheeran credits his time in India—where he immersed himself in the local music scene while recording Play—for the inspiration. "I’ve loved this collaboration process so much and I wanted to represent as much as I could on this EP," Sheeran said, detailing his connection with each artist. Of “Symmetry,” he added, “Karan is culture... I feel like this is the beginning of our collaborative journey, and I’m so excited to create more.”
The EP is a borderless celebration of music, featuring Sheeran's first-ever Hindi song, “Heaven,” recorded with Jonita. The project showcases Sheeran’s commitment to artistic exchange and shared voices, successfully fusing global pop with the rich musical traditions of South India and beyond.
Play – The Remixes EP is available now, delivering a dynamic fusion of sounds to fans worldwide.
