Global superstar Taylor Swift joined Scott Mills on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning (October 6th) to discuss her new 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, offering rare insight into her relationship and her intensely private creative process.
The Kelce Connection
Swift highlighted how her shared career with fiancé Travis Kelce strengthens their bond, despite the surface differences. "I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music," she stated. She noted the fascinating parallels between their jobs: "We both, as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums." The main difference? Her "dressing room" is his "locker room." She praised Kelce's passion, ensuring her music career will continue: "There’s no point in time where he's gonna be like, ‘I'm really upset that you're still making the music.’”
Wedding Plans on Hold
When asked if she was planning her wedding without a professional, Swift debunked any massive production rumours, saying she’s focused on her new release first. "I'm really right now just like really stoked about the idea that I get to marry this person," she said. "And so I'm like, I'm gonna think about that and then I'm gonna put out this album and then I'm gonna think about other things after that." She also laughed off "shockingly offensive" fan speculation that getting married would mean The Life of a Showgirl was her last album.
The Circle of Trust
The singer revealed that keeping a secret is key to her creative process. She kept the entire album a secret from her record label until the music, art, and videos were complete. The secret was safe thanks to her inner circle: “My friends don’t rat. They do not rat. It is phenomenal. I've got a really good circle of friends.” She confirmed she uses "all of it"—disguises and code names—to maintain the surprise for her fans, who reward her efforts by obsessively hunting for Easter eggs.
