Jade Thirlwall has been "obsessed" with pop music ever since she was a little girl.
The former Little Mix star believes she was destined to be a pop singer because she has been studying pop music and artists since childhood.
"I live and breathe pop," she said on the Billboard Pop Shop podcast. "I always have done. I just am obsessed with it. And I've done a lot of research. Ever since I was a little girl, it's always been something I've been obsessed with - not just the music, but, like, just every part of it."
The Angel of My Dreams hitmaker noted that she has always been interested in more than just the music itself.
"Like, I'd have the dolls of my favourite artists, and the CDs, and I'd open it up, and I'd look at all the credits and the lyrics and take it all in and study the artwork and the videos," the 32-year-old shared. "So for me, the best pop artists are the ones that don't just focus on the music and they see it as a whole brand, I suppose."
Elsewhere in the interview, Jade opened up about her love for Madonna, describing her as the "epitome of longevity as a pop artist".
"She is one of the best pop stars we will ever get," the singer gushed. "She reinvents herself with every era, which I find hugely inspiring."
She continued, "As someone that wants a long career, for me, Madonna is the epitome of longevity as a pop artist, and I think that's when you are so sure of who you are, and you speak up and speak out for things you feel passionate about."
Jade added that she often watched the Like a Prayer hitmaker's documentaries as a teenager and "always respected" the fact that she wasn't afraid to be controversial.
