Global superstar Mariah Carey will make history with a special performance in the Amazon rainforest. On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, she is set to headline the Amazônia Live – Today and Always concert, performing on a unique floating stage on the Guamá River in Belém, Brazil.
This once-in-a-lifetime event, produced by Rock World (the team behind Rock in Rio and The Town), aims to draw global attention to the preservation of the Amazon and the ongoing climate crisis. The concert will take place just two months before Belém hosts the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), making it a powerful statement on the need to protect the planet's most vital natural resources.
Carey, fresh off receiving the MTV VMA Vanguard Award, will perform against the stunning backdrop of an Amazon sunset. The stage design will be inspired by the Victoria Amazonica, a symbolic water lily of the region. The concert will also feature opening acts showcasing the local culture of Pará, including performances by Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, and Zaynara.
The purpose of the event is to raise awareness about the importance of protecting indigenous communities, promoting bioeconomy, and supporting reforestation efforts. The goal is to contribute to the global effort to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the rainforest for future generations.
The concert will be filmed for an exclusive TV special, set to be broadcast nationwide in Brazil. In addition to Carey’s performance, the event series will feature a free concert by Brazilian star Ivete Sangalo on September 20, bringing the conservation message to 46,000 fans at the Mangueirão football stadium.
