Doja Cat didn't actually take a bite out of a lipstick at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
While posing for photographers ahead of the prizegiving on Sunday night, the Kiss Me More star, real name Amala Dlamini, took a moment to reapply a layer of bright red lipstick.
Doja then stunned viewers by appearing to take a bite of the lipstick and eat it.
However, pastry chef Amaury Guichon took to Instagram after the show aired to reveal that he had actually crafted the lipstick out of red-coloured chocolate and caramel.
"Making @dojacat's red carpet moment extra sweet," he captioned a video showing him making the edible replica of a tube of MAC Cosmetics' MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Lady Danger.
Doja opened the MTV VMAs with the debut performance of her single Jealous Type and later took home the Best K-Pop prize for the song Born Again, a collaboration with Lisa and Raye.
In addition, she announced that she had been tapped as a global ambassador for beauty brand MAC Cosmetics.
"I've been a MAC girl forever, and now I get to take that love to the global stage," the 29-year-old said in a statement. "Make-up is my paint, my armour, my way of creating characters - and MAC has always stood for that kind of artistry and freedom. We're going to push it even further and make people see beauty in a whole new way."
Doja is set to drop her fifth studio album, Vie, on 26 September.
