So out of the Ordinary! Alex Warren secures the UK’s Official Song of the Summer 2025, Official Charts can confirm.
Breakout single Ordinary, which saw Alex smash Official Chart records, has racked up a total of 700,100 UK chart units this summer (counted between June-August 2025), including 85.5 million combined UK streams.
The Californian singer-songwriter's first Official Number 1 single spent an incredible 13 non-consecutive weeks at the summit this summer, earning him the longest-running UK chart-topper of the decade and the title of the US solo artist with longest-reigning Number 1 single in UK chart history. Ordinary’s 13-week stint usurped a 70-year-strong record previously held by Slim Whitman, who managed an 11-week stint with Rose Marie back in 1955.
Only six songs in Official Chart history boast longer stints at Number 1; Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You (14 weeks), Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (14 weeks), Drake’s One Dance (15 weeks), Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around (15 weeks), Bryan Adams’ (Everything I Do) I Do It For You (16 weeks) and Frankie Laine’s frontrunner I Believe (18 weeks).
Topping off an unbelievable summer, Warren also sinks two more tracks on Official Charts’ Songs of the Summer list: Jelly Roll collaboration Bloodline (31) and Carry You Home (40).
This summer’s Top 5 continues with Ravyn Lenae’s inescapable breakout hit Love Me Not (2), 2024 Song of the Summer champ Sabrina Carpenter’s former chart-topper Manchild (3) and Chappell Roan’s euphoric pop bop Pink Pony Club (4).
Michigan-born DJ and producer MK bags this summer’s hottest dance track with Chrystal collab Dior (5). Marc Kinchen’s first UK chart-topper as a lead artist spent two weeks at the top some 30 years and 6 months after his 1995 UK chart debut Burning, marking one of the longest journeys to Number 1 on record. Dior is one of two songs from Bolton-born vocalist Crystal, who also places The Days further down the list (24).
It was certainly a sombr summer, as New York native Shane Boose is the only artist to land two tracks in 2025’s Songs of the Summer Top 10. undressed is at 6, as back to friends makes Number 8. In just six months, sombr’s notched up four Top 40 singles and a Top 10 album, I Barely Know Her.
Calvin Harris and Clementine Douglas claim the Official biggest British Song of the Summer, with his 31st Top 40 single Blessings coming in at Number 7.
Soulful South London singer Skye Newman rounds out a phenomenal few months with Family Matters at Number 9, making her the highest-placing solo British female artist on the list. The follow-up to March’s debut single Hairdresser, Family Matters peaked at Number 5 on the Official Singles Chart in June, earning rising star Skye her first UK Top 10.
In the summer that saw K-pop smash chart records, KPop Demon Hunters’ HUNTR/X land reigning Number 1 single Golden at Number 12. The hit Netflix film has rocketed the genre to new heights recently, with seven K-pop songs recently occupying the Top 40 simultaneously – the most in UK Official Chart history! Just outside the Top 40, we also find Saja Boys’ Your Idol (46) and Soda Pop (49).
Please just rewind, let me shake it to the max! Transcending its viral social media status with that infectious hook, MOLIY and Silent Addy’s Shake It To The Max (FLY) (20) is named the summer’s biggest Afrobeats track. The first-ever Top 40 single for the pair, Shake It To The Max (FLY) enjoyed a 10-week stint atop the Official Afrobeats Chart. We dare you not to do the dance…
It’s been a big summer for the Brits overall too, with many British artists landing multiple entries on the list: Lola Young (Messy at 10 and One Thing at 37), Ed Sheeran (Sapphire at 13, Azizam at 15), Olivia Dean (Nice To Each Other at 17, Sam Fender duet Rein Me In at 29) and Myles Smith (Stargazing at 30, Nice To Meet You at 35).
