The Weeknd's Blinding Lights has become the first song to reach five billion streams on Spotify.
In a post shared on Sunday, executives from the music streaming service announced via Instagram that the 2019 track had made history again.
"On August 31st, 2025, The Weeknd's Blinding Lights became the first song to reach 5 billion streams on Spotify," they wrote alongside a photo of the Canadian artist.
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, reposted the news to his Instagram Stories for his 78 million followers to see.
However, the 35-year-old didn't share any further comment.
Blinding Lights was the second single on The Weeknd's 2020 album, After Hours.
With synth-pop and new wave influences, the track received critical acclaim upon release and is the most-streamed song of all time on Spotify.
Ed Sheeran's Shape of You and Starboy by The Weeknd and Daft Punk round out the top three.
Back in January 2024, the Can't Feel My Face hitmaker expressed his delight over learning Blinding Lights had surpassed four billion streams on Spotify.
"I'll never stop being humbled by anything I create making its way to millions of people let alone billions!" he told Billboard at the time. "I'm so thankful this song makes people feel a way that they keep going back to listen."
