GRAMMY, BRIT, and Ivor Award-winning producer and songwriter Fraser T. Smith will be honored with the prestigious BMI President’s Award at the 2025 BMI London Awards. The private ceremony will take place on September 29 at The Dorchester.
The award recognizes Smith for his remarkable, three-decade-long career and his collaborations with some of the world's biggest artists, including Adele, Drake, Sam Smith, and Stormzy. The ceremony will also celebrate the top British and European songwriters and publishers whose songs were the most performed on U.S. streaming, radio, and television over the past year.
BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill praised Smith as "one of the UK’s most influential and sought-after producers and songwriters," whose work has "created some of the most impactful songs of our generation."
Before becoming an in-demand contemporary music creator, Smith was a session guitarist in the 1990s, performing on more than 200 records. He later began a long and successful collaboration with Craig David, working on three of his albums. His extensive list of credits includes co-writing, mixing, and producing seven No. 1 singles in the UK and two No. 1 singles in the US.
In addition to his work with other artists, Smith has also gained critical acclaim as a solo artist under the moniker Future Utopia. His 2020 debut, 12 Questions, featured a star-studded roster of collaborators, including Stormzy and Dave.
Smith joins a distinguished list of previous BMI President’s Award recipients, including Taylor Swift, P!nk, and Luis Fonsi.
