Taylor Swift has credited Travis Kelce's podcast for starting their relationship.
Following the news that she will drop her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on 3 October, the music superstar made an appearance on the New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
To begin the conversation, Travis's brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, asked Taylor why she agreed to come on the show.
"This podcast did a lot for me. I owe a lot to this podcast. This podcast got me a boyfriend," she replied, joking that the Kansas City Chiefs player used it as his "personal dating app" around two years ago.
Taylor went on to describe how Travis threw a "man-tantrum" after failing to meet her after she performed an Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in July 2023.
"It was such a wild romantic gesture to be like, 'I wanna date you!' At first, when I looked at it, I was like, 'This dude didn't get a meet-and-greet and he's making it everyone's problem.' That's what I thought at first," the 35-year-old recounted, noting that the sportsman didn't even reach out to her management to try and meet her. "When this podcast came out, I was like, 'Did he ever reach out to be like in the (VIP) tents or did we know he was in the building?' He came with (teammate Patrick Mahomes) and he thought because he knows the elevator lady that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room. That's how it works in 1973. He was really just like, 'I know a guy, I can figure this out.'"
Comparing the gesture to something out of a John Hughes film from the '80s, Taylor confessed it felt like a modern version of "standing outside my window with a boombox like, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?'"
"I was like, if this guy isn't crazy, um, which is a big if, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager," the Cruel Summer hitmaker added. "It was wild, but it worked. I'm glad it worked (so) I'm just circling back to New Heights to say thank you for this."
And in a brief moment of PDA, Taylor cupped Travis's face in her hands.
"I'm the luckiest guy in the world," he exclaimed.
