The older brother of Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher has been charged with a string of offences including rape, sexual assault and coercive control.

DJ and photographer Paul Gallagher is also accused of actual bodily harm, threats to kill and three counts of intentional strangulation, British police have confirmed.

Gallagher is accused of offences said to have taken place between 2022 and 2024, The Daily Telegraph reported.

London's Metropolitan Police began a probe last year, and a spokesperson confirmed that "a man has been charged with numerous offences - including rape, coercive control and sexual assault".

"Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, has been charged with rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

"A woman is being supported by specially-trained officers."

Gallagher will appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 27 August.

Gallagher grew up with his siblings in Burnage, Manchester, but has never been involved with the band.

He released a book in 1997 titled Brothers: From Childhood to Oasis, in which he described growing up with Liam and Noel, who are renowned for their acrimonious relationship.

The charges come as the huge Oasis Live '25 tour came to London last weekend before dates in Edinburgh and Dublin.
