Ellie Goulding has revealed her upcoming sixth album will feature some of the "saddest words (she) ever wrote".
The Burn singer, who announced her separation from husband Caspar Jopling in February 2024, teased what fans can expect from her next record as she celebrated the fifth birthday of her album Brightest Blue.
"5 years since Brightest Blue. Grateful for the love. I can't wait for you to hear what I've been making the past... 2 years. Haha. I'm sorry. Coming soon," she wrote, before teasing more details.
"If you guys liked this album I fear the next might be your new favourite... been working on it for so long," she continued. "Guitars, bass, strings, harmonies for days, saddest words I ever wrote, best writers and musicians in the world (I am so lucky) and refusing to sound like anything else out there lol... gona be interesting for sure (sic)."
Ellie, 38, also confirmed that her music will be firmly in the pop genre because she "can't help" herself.
Fans may expect to hear songs that address her split with art dealer Caspar after more than four years of marriage. The couple, who share a four-year-old son, Arthur, announced that they had "privately separated some time ago" in early 2024 after months of speculation.
According to reports, she is currently dating actor Beau Minniear. She went public with their relationship at the boxing match between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday night, according to The Sun.
The Anything Can Happen singer released her previous album, Higher Than Heaven, in 2023.
