Yi-Hsuan Liu is not your average media composer, orchestrator, or Performer. The Taiwanese-born, Los Angeles–based talent has already racked up an enviable list of credits and awards across the film, television, and video game industries. Her sound—at once orchestral and modern—has made her a sought-after collaborator for high-profile projects on multiple continents.
In 2025, Liu was named one of the Top 5 Asian composers by the European Recording Orchestra’s Call for Scores competition, a major international initiative that draws hundreds of applicants from across the globe. This recognition places Liu in an elite circle of rising talents shaping the next generation of cinematic music.
Her latest headline project is the Death Stranding: Strands of Harmony World Tour, a massive 19-city multimedia concert produced by Kojima Productions, the studio behind the $50M-grossing video game phenomenon Death Stranding. The show—launching in November 2025 in Sydney—features a full orchestra, live vocals, and synchronized in-game visuals. Liu worked alongside Chad Seiter, the acclaimed orchestrator behind Star Trek, Lost, and Gears of War, contributing orchestration prep and MIDI reconstructions.
Also on the horizon is Liu’s upcoming solo score for Sonata (???), a Taiwan-Japan co-production currently in development with J&C Studio, whose previous film Chaotic Justice was a breakout success on the festival circuit. That film not only won Best Action Feature at the Noidentity International Action Film Festival (Spain) but also earned Liu the Best Original Score at the Fox International Film Festival, reinforcing her profile as an emerging voice in genre cinema.
Her music has been featured in productions selected by: Busan International Film Festival (Korea), Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (Asia's leading genre fest), New York Asian Film Festival and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival (Chinese-language cinema’s top stage), including: Paw Patrol – “The Mighty Movie”, A Place Called Silence, Him and The Rope Curse 3 just to name a few. She also contributed to the TV series’ “The Summer Temple Fair” produced by TVBS and HBO’s “Trinity of Shadows”, and Netflix’s “Psychologist”.
Liu also serves as a music consultant for Gamania Digital Entertainment, one of Taiwan’s top video game studios. There, she develops sonic branding, supervises music implementation, and works closely with composers and sound designers to shape cross-platform titles. She has contributed to games like Romance of Three Kingdoms and Chibi Maruko Chan, both of which enjoy strong player bases in Asia.
Her live performance and pop music credentials also include working as a copyist and orchestrator for Crowd Lu’s Tribute to Khalil Fong at the 2025 HITO Pop Music Awards, a collaborative concert between Soochow University and the Tokyo College of Music, the Roy Khan’s concert at Tokio Marine Hall in Sao Paulo, and Grammy winner Jacob Collier‘s and Wang Lee-Hong concerts at Berklee College of Music.
Her original compositions have been featured in large public installations, such as the Taichung MRT Soundscape Project, where her work plays in a metro station heard by over 10,000 daily commuters.
With degrees from Berklee College of Music and USC's Thornton School of Music and a background in classical performance, Liu brings both discipline and vision to every project.
Her creative fluency across cultures, her multi-award-winning credits, and her ability to work on global franchises make her not only exceptional—but indispensable to today’s entertainment industry.
