Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Mathews has explained why she left the Oasis comeback show early.

The British columnist and entrepreneur, who was married to Noel between 1997 and 2001, supported her ex-husband as he shared the stage with his brother Liam for the first time in 16 years at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Friday.

Shortly after the concert, a source told The Mirror that Meg "walked out" of the gig before the band played Wonderwall - a song Noel wrote for her - as the penultimate track ahead of Champagne Supernova.

Meg hit back at the claims on her Instagram Stories, insisting she left before the encore to get to her car and beat the "carnage" at the end of a concert.

"And yes I heard Wonderwall loud and clear outside thank you I was not being rude or bored," she added.

The 59-year-old later updated the caption of her Oasis concert video to address the allegations.

"5 stars (star emoji) loved every minute thank you Oasis... Great to see all the old faces ... it was worth the count Down," she wrote. "And to all the F**king papers I left before the encore as I have left many a stadium at the end and it's carnage ..... But yes I could hear Wonderwall as I walked to my car ! Happy now (sic)."

Noel and Meg's 25-year-old Anais also attended the Cardiff show, which kicked off the band's long-awaited reunion tour.

The Don't Let Back in Anger musicians are next set to play five nights at Heaton Park in their hometown of Manchester, England between 11 and 20 July.
