John Legend has called out a concert promoter in Italy for using his image to advertise a show without permission.
On Sunday evening, the All of Me hitmaker issued a statement via Instagram Stories to clarify that he has not signed up for a gig in Naples - despite posters featuring his name and likeness.
"To my fans in Italy: You may have seen advertisements for a show in Napoli claiming that I will be a featured performer. These advertisements have been posted without my knowledge or approval," he explained. "My team was approached about the possibility of performing at this show and we were hoping to come to an acceptable agreement with the show's promotor, but we never did."
John went on to apologise to his fans for the confusion.
"Unfortunately, I will not be performing there. I deeply appreciate the love and excitement - I see your messages and support. And it means the world to me. I love spending time in Italy," the 46-year-old continued. "And I absolutely love performing there. And I hope to do so again soon. But I would never want my fans to be misled, expecting to see me at an event where I will not be. My apologies for any misunderstanding."
Representatives for the concert promoter have not yet commented on the update.
To conclude, John noted that he hopes to see his dedicated fans at future concerts.
"Hopefully, I will see you on the road. Sending everyone love!" he added.
John is next scheduled to perform his Get Lifted - 20th Anniversary Tour show at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois on 23 August.
