Pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo captivated a crowd of 65,000 fans at her triumphant American Express presents BST Hyde Park debut on Friday night. The 22-year-old sensation delivered a 19-song pop masterclass, thrilling an audience that included fellow BST headliner Sabrina Carpenter, Bridgerton’s Luke Newton, James Corden, and Rodrigo’s boyfriend Louis Partridge.

"Oh my God, there’s so many people here I can’t believe my eyes!" Rodrigo beamed as she took to the Great Oak Stage, greeted by a sea of purple cowboy hats. "London, did you know you guys are my favourite city? This is like my dream gig! It’s such a magical night and we get to watch the sunset together – it’s so romantic."

The show reached a fever pitch when Rodrigo introduced "one of my favourite Brits and one of the best songwriters of all time" – none other than Ed Sheeran. To a frenzy of screams, Sheeran joined Rodrigo for an acoustic duet of his 2011 classic, 'The A Team,' a moment that solidified the night as one for the history books.

Dazzling in a glistening silver-sequin-tassled outfit, Rodrigo powered through a hit-packed set. Fan favourites like 'Bad Idea Right,' 'Traitor,' 'Vampire,' 'Drivers License,' and 'Happier' had the crowd, including a visibly enthused James Corden, singing along to every word. The second half brought more beloved tracks, leading to an epic 90-minute climax with an encore featuring 'Brutal,' 'All American Bitch,' 'Good 4 U,' and 'Get Him Back.'

Earlier in the day, the stage was set by an impressive lineup of supporting acts. London's own The Last Dinner Party made a welcome return to the festival, reflecting on their early BST shows. Norwegian musician girl in red captivated the growing audience, candidly sharing her recent struggles with mental health and addiction before performing her new, reflective track 'Hemingway.' British-Ivorian flowerovlove kicked off her set with a surprise entrance from a giant white stiletto shoe, while US alt-pop duo BETWEEN FRIENDS expressed their awe at playing their biggest show ever. The Rainbow Stage saw stellar performances from Caity Baser and TikTok sensation Katie Gregson-MacLeod, alongside emerging talents like Ruti, Florence Road, Aziya, and Déyyess.

Olivia Rodrigo's electrifying debut showcased why BST Hyde Park remains a summer highlight, promising more unforgettable performances from upcoming headliners like Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Stevie Wonder.
