Prolific indie-rock artist Miles Kane is set to release his latest album, 'Sunlight In The Shadows,' on October 17th via Easy Eye Sound. The announcement comes alongside the immediate release of his new guitar-driven single, 'Love Is Cruel,' available to stream and watch now.
'Sunlight In The Shadows' is a 12-track journey into psyche-infused rock 'n' roll, masterfully produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. The album promises lush, screeching guitars and an abundance of hooks, expertly balancing raw, energetic rock with laid-back, crooning anthems, all punctuated by Kane's distinctive tremolo guitar sound.
Kane expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, "All roads, over 20 years, have led here. Dan and I love mixing T. Rex, Motown and The Easybeats and the result is this record." Auerbach echoed the sentiment, praising their creative synergy: "This record was incredible to make, from start to finish. I felt like I gained a life-long friend in Miles. And that doesn't always happen. When it does, it's amazing. This is an artist who could potentially make records forever."
The album's eleven original songs were co-written by Kane and Auerbach, with contributions from acclaimed musicians like Pat McLaughlin, Daniel Tashian, and The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. Auerbach also lends his backing vocals and guitar prowess to every track, alongside a "guitar army" featuring Tom Bukovac, Nick Bockrath of Cage The Elephant, and Barrie Cadogan from Little Barrie.
The lead single, 'Love Is Cruel,' offers a taste of the album's introspective yet playful tone, exploring themes of finding solace in solitude. Kane describes the track's opening line, "she’s a midnight scooter rider," as a favourite that sets the lyrical and musical mood.
Fans can also catch Miles Kane live as he supports The Black Keys on their upcoming UK dates in July, including a stop at London's Alexandra Palace Park on July 11th. Before that, Kane is set to play the historic final show at The Leadmill in Sheffield on Friday, June 27th.
