James Marriott takes on Oasis for first Number 1 album with Don’t Tell The Dog

James Marriott takes an early lead in the race for this week’s Official Number 1 album with Don’t Tell The Dog.
The Swiss-born, Brighton-based singer-songwriter’s second LP could become his first chart-topper, following the success of 2023 debut Are We There Yet?, which peaked at Number 17.
With less than a month to go until their Live ’25 reunion tour, Oasis’s enduring hits collection Time Flies… 1994-2009 tracks for a Top 5 return, up 12 places midweek (2). The record, which topped the chart on its release in 2010 and has since spent 614 weeks on the chart, has been remastered across a multi-format reissue.
The Cure eye a 14th Top 10 album with Mixes Of A Lost World; a reworking of their 2024 chart-topper Songs Of A Lost World (3). The collection includes remixes from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, Sally C and Four Tet.
Northern Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Van Morrison hopes to bank a 17th Top 10 LP with Remembering Now, his 47th studio album (5).
5 Seconds of Summer star Calum Hood could be celebrating his first-ever solo Top 10 with debut release ORDER chaos ORDER (8). As a member of 5SOS, Calum already boasts five Top 10 albums: 2014’s 5 Seconds of Summer (2), 2015 chart-topper Sounds Good Feels Good, 2018’s Youngblood (3), 2020 record CALM (1) and 2022’s 5SOS5 (1).
Metallica’s Load looks to return to the Top 10 for the first time in 29 years with the release of a remastered deluxe box set (10). The heavy metal legends’ sixth studio album originally topped the chart on its release in 1996.
Birkenhead-born rock outfit Half Man Half Biscuit could be celebrating a career-best with 16th studio LP All Asimov And No Fresh Air (11). The band’s current peak came courtesy of their snappily titled 2018 release No-One Cares About Your Creative Hub So Get Your F**kin’ Hedge Cut (33).
Ladbroke Grove’s finest AJ Tracey hopes to earn a fourth Top 40 album with Don’t Die Before You’re Dead (12), while New York native Lil Tecca could claim a second with DOPAMINE (13).
Following the sad news of co-founder Brian Wilson’s death last week, The Beach Boys’ 2003 compilation The Very Best Of The Beach Boys: Sounds Of Summer surges 73 places midweek (17).
The group’s 11th studio album, 1966’s Pet Sounds, primarily composed by Brian Wilson himself, is also on the ascent, currently up an incredible 156 places to Number 26 midweek. It peaked at Number 2 upon its original release.
Its Dolby Atmos remastering sees Queen’s Queen I rocket back into the midweek Top 40 (33). Meanwhile, Aussie rockers INXS’s fifth studio work, 1985’s Listen Like Thieves, could earn a new Number 34 best thanks to a 50th anniversary reissue. The record’s current peak stands at Number 48.
And finally, ahead of his headline Glastonbury Festival slot later this month, Neil Young’s Talkin To The Trees, released under neil young and the chrome hearts, looks to land at Number 39.
