Kelsea Ballerini has announced that she is taking a break in order to "figure out what's next".

The country singer, who recently finished her stint as a coach on season 27 of The Voice, has said that she needs some time off.

In addition to serving as a coach on the reality TV show, Kelsea has also recently released her fifth studio album, Patterns, and embarked on her first arena tour as the headline act.

During an appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends on Friday, the 31-year-old singer declared, "I need a break!"

"And I've never been able to say that before, but I really think it's just time for me to pump the brakes, figure out what's next, have a summer, what?" she continued. "Go to the beach? Huh? Learn to cook a new meal, hang out with the dogs. So that's kind of my agenda."

However, the singer then admitted that she often continues to work while she is supposed to be taking a break.

"Every time I say that I have time off, something happens," she said. "But I'm very open to whatever is out there."

The Cowboys Cry Too hitmaker then reflected on her time as a coach on The Voice.

"It's been such a beautiful season of doing things that are out of my comfort zone and bigger than I've ever done, and it's been really fulfilling. I love being in that seat," she shared.

When asked if she has any plans to return to the show, Kelsea said that she would "never say never".

The singer-songwriter first appeared on The Voice in season 15, later serving as a battle advisor in season 16. She also stood in for Kelly Clarkson as a coach in season 20.
