Megan Thee Stallion accuses Tory Lanez's team of 'peddling misinformation' about shooting
Megan Thee Stallion has accused Tory Lanez's team of "peddling misinformation" about the 2020 shooting.
The rapper's lawyer has criticised Lanez's team after they launched a website, 36 Hours Later, claiming it presents new evidence supporting Lanez's innocence.
This development comes more than two years after the Canadian rapper was found guilty of shooting Megan in the feet after a party in Los Angeles on 12 July 2020.
The newly launched website, created by Lanez's legal team, went live on Thursday and contains material alleging that Megan was actually shot by a woman.
Megan's team has since pushed back, accusing Lanez's camp of releasing the content in an effort to "sway public opinion".
"Tory Lanez's team can't keep a story straight," Megan's attorney Alex Spiro told multiple outlets in a statement Thursday. "They continue to rehash old evidence from trial and re-package it as new information to desperately sway public opinion."
The attorney added, "There was no new evidence displayed today - simply a sad attempt from Tory's team to copy our presentation format to peddle misinformation."
The website includes a voice recording of eyewitness Sean Kelly, who told police at the time of the shooting that he believed a woman had fired the shots at the Savage hitmaker.
Lanez's legal team claims the shooter was Megan's former friend, Kelsey Harris. They also suggested that Megan had not been shot at all and had stepped on glass instead.
Spiro further criticised Florida congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, who took to X on Thursday to urge California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon Lanez. She alleged that his conviction was based "on a flawed, incomplete story full of contradictions, missing evidence, and straight-up lies".
Spiro called Luna's post "embarrassing" and insisted that "she should be focused on serving her own constituents in Florida rather than chasing celebrities".
The news comes shortly after Lanez was stabbed 14 times in prison earlier this month. He is being moved to another facility following the incident.
