Chris Brown was remanded in custody after appearing in court on Friday over an alleged nightclub attack.

The U.S. singer was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England around 2am on Thursday and subsequently charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH).

During his appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday, Brown spoke to confirm his name, his date of birth and give his address as The Lowry Hotel.

According to Manchester Evening News, District Judge Joanne Hirst ruled that GBH was "too serious" an offence to be heard at a magistrates' court and set a new court date for Southwark Crown Court in London on 13 June.

The 36-year-old's legal team insisted he wasn't a flight risk and that he would comply with bail conditions, however, his bail was denied and Brown was remanded in custody until the next court hearing.

Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls told the court that Brown allegedly attacked music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle at Tape nightclub in London on 19 February 2023.

She alleged that he hit Diaw "several times" with the bottle before punching and kicking him alongside another person.

The Forever singer flew into Manchester ahead of his upcoming tour in the U.K. and Europe. His Breezy Ball XX tour was originally scheduled to begin in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 8 June before travelling to Germany, France and the U.K.

No announcements have been made as yet regarding the status of the tour.
