Lorde has been slammed by fans after making an interview confession.
The Royals singer admitted she had enjoyed watching Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's stolen sex tape, only to be met by a wave of criticism from fans.
"I found it to be so beautiful," Lorde, 28, told Rolling Stone. "And maybe it's f**ked up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity. They were like children. They were so free. And I just was like, 'Whoa. Being this free comes with danger'."
Readers were swift to decry Lorde's remarks as insensitive and damaging.
"Lorde makes it so hard to defend her," one commenter wrote. "Pamela Anderson has been vocal about the damage this caused to her mentally, to their relationship, & to her career. it's a violation - they never consented to anyone watching it, it was literally stolen from their house."
The video, which the then-married couple recorded for their private use, was stolen and distributed illegally in 1995. The theft led to a series of protracted legal battles for the couple as they tried to prevent the video's spread.
Several fans took care to explain the back story of the tape.
"Just a reminder that this tape was STOLEN and then sold," one wrote on X.
"Pamela Anderson took the cast to court but was forced to end the trial, because of the harm the stress was causing to her and her unborn child. under no circumstances should this tape be watched or distributed."
