Cassie Ventura claims she became addicted to opioids after being forced to participate in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' alleged 'freak off' parties.
The 38-year-old singer has been testifying against Combs, 55, who is on trial charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution - charges he has pleaded not guilty to.
The Me & U singer was in a relationship with Combs for 11 years - time in which, she testified, he coerced her into having sex with sex workers, brutally attacked her, and blackmailed her.
On Wednesday, the American singer took the stand for a second day at the Southern District of New York Federal Court where she revealed she turned to drugs to cope with the experiences Combs allegedly subjected her to.
The BBC reported that the court was shown a text in which Combs told Ventura he wanted to conduct a 'freak off' party "without K" - meaning ketamine.
The singer is reported as stating the substance was her "preferred drug" for the sessions, because it was "very dissociative" - and has previously explained she engaged in sex acts at the behest of the rap star even though she did not want to out of fear of violence.
The Daily Mail quotes the singer explaining that she admitted she became dependent on drugs, telling the court, "I had an ongoing off and on addiction to opiates. I'd take the opiates to come down from ecstasy and MDMA."
She told the jury, "Opiates make me feel numb which is why I relied on them so heavily ... I didn't want to feel what was actually going on in my mind in my life. It was an escape for me."
The trial continues.
