Lil Wayne will no longer consider performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show after being snubbed for this year's slot.
The A Milli rapper had openly expressed his desire to perform at the show in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, in February, and was "hurt" when the organisers chose Los Angeles hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar instead.
Reflecting on the situation in a cover interview with Rolling Stone, Wayne vowed to never consider doing the Super Bowl again.
"They stole that feeling. I don't want to do it. It was perfect," he stated.
The 42-year-old noted that he didn't sit down and watch Lamar's Super Bowl performance and instead played pool with his friend and went outside to smoke.
"Every time I looked, it was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on," he added.
The Lollipop hitmaker explained that the National Football League (NFL) bosses encouraged him to appear at more public appearances to prepare for the show, which led him to believe he would get the Halftime Show spot.
"To perform, it's a bunch of things they're going to tell you to do and not do, a*ses to kiss and not kiss," he explained. "If you notice, I was a part of things I've never been a part of... I'm doing s**t with (American footballer) Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain't never seen me in them types of venues. I ain't Drake. I ain't out there smiling like that everywhere. I'm in the (studio), smokin' and recording."
According to Wayne, somebody at the NFL apologised to him after the Lamar announcement and said they weren't in charge of selecting the Halftime Show performer.
The rapper also insisted things are fine between him and Lamar as he called the Not Like Us musician to clear the air and offer encouragement before the show.
