The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are the only UK bands with more Number 1 albums.
Stereophonics celebrate a ninth Official Number 1 album with Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait.
The Welsh rock outfit, currently comprising Kelly Jones, Richard Jones, Adam Zindani and Jamie Morrison, previously topped the Official Albums Chart with Performance And Cocktails (1999), Just Enough Education To Perform (2001), You Gotta Go There To Come Back (2003), Language.Sex.Violence.Other? (2005), Pull The Pin (2007), Keep The Village Alive (2015), Kind (2019) and Oochya! (2022).
Stereophonics now draw level with Take That and Bob Dylan on the list of acts with the most Number 1 albums in the UK; each with nine apiece. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are the only British bands with more Number 1 albums, boasting 15 and 14 respectively.
Make ‘em Laugh, Make ‘em Cry, Make ‘em Wait tops the Official Record Store Chart, too; the most popular album of the past seven days in UK independent record shops.
Swedish heavy metal group Ghost match their previous Albums Chart peak with sixth studio LP?Skeletá (2). The LP becomes Ghost’s fifth Top 10 album overall, joining 2018’s Prequelle (10), 2022’s IMPERA (2), 2023’s Phantomime (8) and 2024 live recording Rite Here Rite Now (10).
Skeletá also debuts at Number 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart; named the biggest record of the week on wax.
James Arthur claims a sixth Top 10 album with?PISCES?this week (3). Previously, James saw success with his 2013 self-titled debut (2), 2016’s Back From The Edge (1), 2019’s YOU (2), 2021’s It’ll All Make Sense In The End (3) and 2024’s Bitter Sweet Love (1).
Self Esteem secures a personal best, banking her first Top 10 album as her third studio collection A Complicated Woman comes in at Number 5. The South Yorkshire-born singer-songwriter, real name Rebecca Lucy Taylor, previously peaked at Number 11 with 2021 Mercury Prize-nominated record Prioritise Pleasure.
Scottish folk-pop four-piece?Tide Lines?also earn a career-best with Glasgow Love Story (11). Robert Robertson, Ross Wilson, Alasdair Turner and Fergus Munro have seen Albums Chart success with 2020’s Eye Of The Storm (12) and 2023 LP An Ocean Full Of Islands (13).
Finally, fellow Scots Simple Minds net a 13th Top 10 album with Live In The City Of Diamonds, recorded at their 2024 Amsterdam Ziggo Dome show (20).
