Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald returns with the announcement of her highly anticipated sixth studio album, Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?, set for release on July 11 via Infectious Music. The album arrives alongside its powerful lead single and title track, now available to stream, and news of an extensive UK and European tour—highlighted by a major homecoming show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
Renowned for her uplifting storytelling and emotive songwriting, Amy has long been a cherished voice in British music. With over 12 million album sales, five Top 5 albums across Europe, and more than a billion global streams, her career continues to soar. Her live shows, too, are iconic—having captivated over five million fans around the world.
Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For? is Amy’s most fearless release yet. Produced by Nicolas Rebscher (AURORA, Louis Tomlinson) with additional production from Grammy-winner Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys), the album explores themes of resilience, personal growth, and breaking free from societal expectations. Amy channels raw emotion through stories of toxic friendships, self-liberation, and survival, all delivered with her trademark sincerity and energy.
The title track is a standout anthem—a rallying cry against the constant pressure for new content in the age of streaming. Inspired by the spectacle of The Sphere in Las Vegas, the single celebrates the communal magic of live music. “Gigs have always been the most important part for me,” says Amy. “This song is my way of pushing back against the treadmill of constant output.”
Fans who pre-order the album will receive early access to tour tickets ahead of the general release. Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For? will be available digitally, as well as on black vinyl, CD, and an exclusive signed Deluxe CD via Amazon.
Amy Macdonald’s new era promises to be her most dynamic yet. The tour kicks off this summer with major festival slots, followed by arena dates through late 2024 and early 2025.
