Record Breaker! Jack Black’s Steve’s Lava Chicken is shortest song ever to chart
Jack Black makes history today as viral hit Steve’s Lava Chicken from A Minecraft Movie, in which he stars, becomes the shortest song ever to make the UK’s Official Singles Chart.
Coming in at a duration of just 34 seconds, Steve’s Lava Chicken now surpasses Jonny Trunk and Wisbey’s 36-second hit The Ladies’ Bras, which peaked at Number 27 in 2007.
Steve’s Lava Chicken earns Jack Black a solo career-best in the process. The song one-ups Black’s previous Number 27 Singles Chart peak, earned with 2023 The Super Mario Bros. soundtrack Peaches.
As one half of comedy rock duo Tenacious D alongside Kyle Gass, Black’s also seen UK chart success with 2002’s Wonderboy (34), 2006 track POD (24) and 2012 cult favourite Tribute (84).
Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Jack Black says:
“I just heard that Steve’s Lava Chicken has cracked the UK Top 40. I want to send big love to all the Minecraft fans for getting us up there – it’s insane! Love you!”
