David Schwimmer has called on X owner Elon Musk to bar Kanye West from the platform following the rapper's latest antisemitic rant.

West, also known as Ye, shocked fans on Friday by flooding the social media network with antisemitic comments in a repeat of an autumn 2022 rant that cost him numerous business deals and resulted in him being banned from the social network, then known as Twitter.

Musk restored the hip-hop star's account in 2023, but Schwimmer called for the account to be taken offline after the new rant, in which the 47-year-old praised Hitler, called himself a Nazi and said antisemitism was "just some bulls**t Jewish people made up to protect their bulls**t."

"This is so 2022," wrote Schwimmer on Instagram. "We can't stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate filled, ignorant bile... but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk. Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That's twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.

"I don't know what's worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point. Silence is complicity," the Friends star added.

As of Sunday, West's account was still active on the platform, with the Gold Digger musician continuing to share erratic and antisemitic posts with followers.

Musk's ownership of X has been controversial due to his reinstatement of accounts belonging to far right figures, while he himself provoked outrage with a gesture that was criticised as resembling a Nazi salute at a Donald Trump rally last month.
