Dionne Warwick and Khloé Kardashian have called out two Grammys red carpet reporters for cutting off an interview with Babyface so they could speak to Chappell Roan.

The singer-songwriter and record producer, real name Kenneth Edmonds, was in the middle of an interview with The Associated Press on the red carpet when one of the reporters called out to the Pink Pony Club hitmaker behind him.

"You guys wanna take that? Go do that then," Babyface politely told the journalists, who apologised as he handed back his microphone and walked away.

Footage of the awkward moment went viral on social media and Walk On By singer Warwick weighed in on the conversation.

She reposted the footage and wrote, "13x Grammy Award winning Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?"

The 84-year-old then shared a screenshot of the dictionary definition of "decorum" and tagged the agency.

When a follower suggested that perhaps the journalists didn't know "all of the classics" Babyface has written, Warwick replied, "And you shouldn't be on that carpet unless you do."

In addition, Babyface "forever fan" Kardashian told her X followers that he was a pioneer and "a class act" who "deserves so much better" than that "disrespectful" encounter.

"Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. Its maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve (sic)," she wrote.

"PS big or small, old or new, - you don't treat people like this. At least not in my eyes. There's a way to handle this and this was wrong in my opinion."

Reporter Krysta Fauria apologised for the interview later in the evening, telling AP viewers, "I'm really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. But I'm a big Babyface fan, as are we all. And I just wanted to say that I really apologise."

Babyface has yet to publicly comment on the interruption.
