Cardi B has revealed her new album is “so different” from her past material.

The Bodak Yellow singer is gearing up to release her second studio album and took to social media on Saturday to pay tribute to the success of her debut effort Invasion of Privacy.

“6 years ago I released my first album and it broke so many records GAH LEE!!” Cardi shared on X, formerly known as Twitter. “6 years later I’m preparing to drop the next one this year.. it’s so different from what everyone is expecting and I’m sooo excited.”

The 31-year-old star also thanked fans for their unwavering support and for being patient as they waited for a follow-up to Invasion of Privacy.

“Love you guys and thank you for the support! I’ll talk to ya soon I been so busy these last few days,” she added.

Cardi also replied to Missy Elliott, who had earlier voiced her approval of artists who aren’t afraid to experiment with their sound and refuse to be “boxed in” to one style of music.

“Yeup!!! I’m a little nervous… but I don’t care! I’m liking doing things that my ears want to listen to and reflecting the moods I been in. It feels good,” she posted in agreement.

Invasion of Privacy - which featured guest appearances by stars including Chance the Rapper, Bad Bunny, SZA and Migos - was a global hit upon its release in April 2018.

As well as racking up five nominations at the 2019 Grammys Awards, the LP debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart and became the longest-charting album by a female rapper in Billboard 200 history.

Cardi has already shared new tracks from the upcoming album, including Like What (Freestyle) and Enough (Miami).
