Eminem is working to release a new album this year, Dr Dre has revealed.

The rapper and producer said Eminem had granted him permission to announce the new record.

“Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year," Dre told Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

"I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire.”

Dre, 59, went on to explain that while he had contributed to the record, he had not yet listened to it in its entirety.

“I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow," he said.

"He holds his music close to his chest, so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

The record will be 51-year-old Eminem's 11th studio album – his most recent release was Music to be Murdered By in 2020.
