Shakira has shut down a widespread theory that she learned about her ex Gerard Piqué's alleged affair when she found her jam had been eaten.

During an interview with The Sunday Times, the Hips Don't Lie singer was asked about the viral rumour that she discovered the footballer's alleged infidelity when she found someone had eaten her jam while she was away, even though he and their children didn't touch it.

She simply replied, "Not true," and claimed not to know what the reporter was talking about.

The Colombian hitmaker and the retired football player confirmed they were separating after 11 years in June 2022.

The music video for Te Felicito, her collaboration with Rauw Alejandro, added fuel to the jam speculation. In the promo, which was released in April 2022, Shakira opens a fridge and finds the head of Rauw.

When asked about the sequence on This Morning in May 2022, the Whenever, Wherever hitmaker claimed she looked into the fridge to "find out the truth".

Elsewhere in The Sunday Times interview, Shakira opened up about sacrificing her career to live with Gerard and their sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine, in Barcelona, Spain.

"For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football," she said. "There was a lot of sacrifice for love."

Shakira's first album in seven years, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore), is set to be released on 22 March.
