Mel B joined the Hits Radio Breakfast Show team this morning for a chat about her book Brutally Honest, Glastonbury and possible new music from the Spice Girls. Chatting to Angellica Bell, James and Matt she told them that she had thought her career was over when her biography detailing the abusive relationship she had left came out…

She said: ‘When I first bought my book, Brutally Honest, out in 2017 I thought it was going to end my career because I was talking about a topic that no one was talking about - it was a big risk. If it hadn’t been for my daughter Phoenix, I don’t think I’d have bought it out because no one wanted to publish it. No one wanted to talk about abuse, whether it be domestic violence, coercive abuse, financial abuse. So the publisher took a risk, only ordered a few copies and it just flew off the shelves and they had to keep on reordering. I’ve added an extra three chapters and updated it now because it’s more of a conversation that we can have.’

With 2024 marking an incredibly thirty years of the Spice Girls we had to ask about any special plans that the five of them might have to mark the occasion and for those who think Glastonbury has been ruled out with the announcement of singer Shania Twain in the Legends slot think again…

‘You don’t know that we’re not doing Glastonbury,’ Mel teased, ‘but I feel really old [talking about thirty years]. We are talking about doing something together- I can’t say what it is ‘cos I always get into trouble, loose lips sink ships and I’m not about to sink the ship! I’ve had the kibosh put on me this time round but my aim is to get us back in to the studio, that would be nice.’
