December 3, marked the first annual MP3 Awards.

The fledgling event was conceived to support new talent / new music and allow fresh artists from around the world to showcase their talent and creative flair before a live audience.

The 18 finalists – selected from public votes – were joined by established artists, such as newly signed US, Capital records recording artist, Che’Nelle, alongside Wretch 32 and Rod Aaron Gammons at the evening hosted by former US, CBS Morning Show presenter, Sonia Uribe.

An esteemed panel of judges, including PRS Chairman Ellis Rich, Helen Gammons, Imaani and Jules Standen, the engineer behind The Lemonheads radio hit, Mrs Robinson, were on hand to choose an overall winner from each of the six categories.

Chocolate Blonde won the BPA Award, Best Performing Act and was one of the artists lucky enough to take home a three-year publishing agreement and a high spec, TL Audio Class A Quality Tube outboard unit.

MP3 Music Awards, is set to continue its success in 2008.
