The UK’s Eurovision entry for 2024 – Olly Alexander – joined Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott on the Magic Radio Breakfast show this morning to have a chat about all things Eurovision.

‘I’ve known for definite for about two months now,’ the Years and Years singer admitted. ‘It’s been hard to keep it a secret! I told my Mum and then said you must not tell anyone and she felt quite scared about having to carry the secret. But I’ve wanted to do it for a really long time -ever since I was a kid - so this is so exciting, I can’t believe it.’

Olly revealed his first Eurovision memory was Gina G but he’s also a big fan of Sam Ryder and last year’s entry, Mae Muller and that his Eurovision entry has inspired a whole new album….

He said: ‘The song that I have for Eurovision I made with Danny L Harle, who’s a brilliant pop producer, and we made basically a whole album, so I’ve got a lot of music ready to go so I’m so, so excited that it’s coming.’

Olly also teased Ronan and Harriet when he revealed that the Eurovision song isn’t a ballad but ‘if it was a cocktail it would be an amaretto sour….!’
