Fans have been speculating about the timeline of Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn's relationship following the release of her song You're Losing Me.

It was revealed in April that the Shake It Off singer and British actor had broken up after six years together, however, it has never been confirmed specifically when they split.

On Wednesday, Taylor's frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff seemingly gave a rare insight into the relationship by revealing that Taylor wrote the breakup song in December 2021.

To celebrate the track's release, Jack posted a photo of Taylor in the kitchen on the day they wrote and recorded it.

"You're losing me is out today," he wrote on his Instagram Stories. "A very special track from the midnights sessions that's finally steaming (sic)! Written and recorded at home on 12/5/21 right after taylor ate these raisins."

The revelation made fans wonder if Taylor and Joe broke up a year and a half before it was reported or if they were having relationship problems at that time.

You're Losing Me details a relationship that has run its course and features the lyrics, "I can't find a pulse / My heart won't start anymore / For you / 'Cause you're losin' me," and, "How long could we be a sad song / 'Til we were too far gone to bring back to life? / I gave you all my best me's, my endless empathy."

The track was initially released on an exclusive CD edition of her album Midnights, but it dropped on streaming on Wednesday to celebrate the 33-year-old becoming the most-streamed global artist of 2023 on Spotify.

The Blank Space singer is now dating American football star Travis Kelce.
