Maren Morris has filed for divorce from Ryan Hurd after five years of marriage.

The 33-year-old singer filed for divorce from Ryan, 36, on 2 October in Tennessee, according to documents obtained by People.

According to the filing, the Girl singer cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their divorce.

It has been reported that the pair, who share a three-year-old son, Hayes Andrew, were ordered to complete a parenting seminar which is typically required in Davidson County divorce cases involving children.

Maren and Ryan, both singer-songwriters, first met while co-writing Tim McGraw's 2014 track Last Turn Home. They became romantically linked in 2015 and got engaged the following year. The pair then tied the knot on 24 March 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee before welcoming their son in March 2020.

During their relationship, Maren and Ryan collaborated on several projects, including their 2021 Grammy-nominated duet Chasing After You.

The news of their split comes soon after Maren announced that she was stepping away from country music as a result of feeling "very, very distanced" from the industry.

"I couldn't do this circus anymore - feeling like l have to absorb and explain people's bad behaviors and laugh it off," she said at the time. "I just couldn't do that after 2020 particularly. I've changed. A lot of things changed about me that year."
