Toby Keith has reflected on his battle with cancer.
While walking the red carpet with his wife Tricia Lucas at the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards held on Thursday, the Don't Let The Old Man In singer opened up to Taste of Country about his previous cancer diagnosis.
"I've been going through my cancer fight for the last couple years, and it's real inspiring for a lot of people," Toby, 62, told the outlet at the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville event. "It's a roller coaster."
The event marked Toby's first performance since he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021. He said he would play Don't Let The Old Man In at the event because he thought it was "fitting".
The singer explained of his philosophy during recent months, "Lean on your faith and lean into it and you just do what's next. Every day there's a next, so you just do it."
Additionally, Toby told E! News that he has been feeling "pretty good", adding, "You get good days and, you know, you're up and down, up and down. It's always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today."
Toby was awarded the Country Icon Award at Thursday's event.
