Matty Healy has revealed that his band The 1975 would go on hiatus following their tour.

While playing with The 1975 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA on Tuesday, the band’s frontman told the crowd that the dream-pop group had scheduled an “indefinite hiatus” beginning after they finished their current Still… At Their Very Best world tour.

“It’s wonderful you’re all here,” Matty said at the Sacramento show, via New Music Express. “After this tour, we will be going on an indefinite hiatus with shows, so it’s wonderful to have you guys with us tonight. Thank you so much.”

The 1975 kicked off the tour on 16 September in Atlanta. Their last show is set for 24 March next year in Amsterdam.

The band’s string of 2024 tour dates in Europe and the United Kingdom were added last month.

The group previously cancelled shows in Indonesia and Taiwan following an incident at Malaysia’s Good Vibes Festival in July, where Matty criticised the country’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws and kissed his bandmate onstage. The event organiser later revealed they would seek $2.7 million (£2.23 million) in restitution from the group.
