Olivia Dean’s debut album Messy has been shortlisted as a 2023 Mercury Prize with FREENOW Album of the Year. Released last month via EMI and debuting at #4 in the Official Charts, Messy is Dean’s debut album and cements her as one of the most original and versatile voices in UK pop.

Crafting classic yet conversational hooks with genre-fluid tinges, she’s honed a way of exploring universal themes of love, loss and everything in between with razor-sharp but open-hearted storytelling. Messy features the singles ‘Dive’, ‘Danger’, ‘UFO’, ‘Carmen’ and ‘The Hardest Part’, with Olivia recently sharing a special new version of the track featuring Leon Bridges.

Dean also recently helmed a musical squad of 11 artists named Hope FC to co-write and perform new single ‘Call Me A Lioness’, to celebrate the England women’s football team the ‘Lionesses’ and the 2023 Women’s World Cup.Teaming up with Melanie C, Self Esteem, Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice), Al Greenwood (Sports Team), Marika Hackman, Rachel Chinouriri, Shura, Jasmine Jethwa, Rose Gray, Highlyy, ‘Call Me A Lioness’ will raise money for charities that support grassroots girls and women’s football: Football Beyond Borders, Street Soccer, Girls United and Manchester Laces.

This all follows the start of an incredible summer for Dean, who headlined an incredible, sold out Somerset House outdoor show, has played at festivals worldwide including Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, and a triumphant weekend at Glastonbury Festival - where she met Elton John, a continued champion of hers who said "I think she’s a big star … she’s a fabulous singer, she’s beautiful, she’s got that personality that really shines through".
