The Teskey Brothers today release their expansive third studio album The Winding Way – a seminal moment in the band’s illustrious catalogue that is both a testament to their artistic evolution and their most adventurous record to date. Led and guided by vocalist Josh Teskey and his brother, guitarist and engineer Sam Teskey, The Teskey Brothers return with a newfound clarity as they shake the shackles of conventionality and emerge with a record that captures their free and fearless spirit. Teaming up with Grammy/ARIA Award winning producer Eric J (Flume/St Vincent/Chet Faker) each track on The Winding Way bursts forth with an undeniable vitality. It is a record that will sit comfortably amongst the songbook greats.

“Our old recording studio was on a street called Winding Way in Melbourne. We moved out of that house in 2021 just before recording this album. When we were trying to come up with a title we realised ‘The Winding Way’ is the perfect metaphor for all the recent changes we’d been through in our lives. Not only moving out of the studio but starting families, experiencing big loss, and growing up in lots of different ways. It was unintentional but the album slowly became all about those ‘growing up’ themes of nostalgia, connection, displacement, and finding a path through the winding way of life. I think we discovered that we’re not kids anymore!” – Josh Teskey

“We recorded in a different city with amazing gear and new collaborators. I was able to step away from the engineering role which was huge for me. It felt fun and exciting in a way that recording music hadn’t for some time and it took the songs in really interesting new directions. Stepping outside the comfort zone of the old studio definitely helped make this one a more mature and ‘classy’ record.” – Sam Teskey

In the lead-up to The Winding Way, The Teskey Brothers released selected songs early, including the nostalgic gem, ‘Remember The Time’, the dramatic & sprawling work of ‘London Bridge’, the gorgeous love song ‘Take My Heart’, and the striking ‘Oceans of Emotions’. Today, the album is complete with songs such as the album’s opening track, ‘I’m Leaving’, an ode to their recently packed-up home studio (the house was sold) and perhaps the most fitting way to introduce a new era, ‘Carry Me Home’, a deviation into acoustic Americana, and ‘Blind Without You’ - a Dylanesque folk ballad, mutating into a soaring psychedelic blues song. Above this mighty racket, Josh Teskey delivers one of the most impassioned vocal performances of his career.

The four-time ARIA award winners and GRAMMY® nominees are currently playing to sold-out crowds across UK & Europe (selling over 40,000 tickets), as well as summer festivals – including Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 25th June! – and high profile support slots with Bruce Springsteen and Hozier. The band will tour North America throughout August, September & October, with shows selling fast.

With the closure of their beloved Half Mile Harvest Studios in Warrandyte, where they recorded their first two studio albums, Sam and Josh made a conscious decision to try something different on The Winding Way and head to Sydney to record with acclaimed producer (and huge Teskey fan) Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Chet Faker, Chemical Brothers). “It’s album of the year”, Eric routinely quipped, “I just can’t tell you which year.”

A bolder and more sprawling record than The Teskey Brothers’ first two albums - without losing the heart and soul of their sound - The Winding Way is bursting with life. If Half Mile Harvest was the aural equivalent of the sun coming through in the morning and Run Home Slow was a whiskey in a dive bar - then The Winding Way is a fireplace burning, a warm escape from the cold and a full circle return to the magic of where it all started, two brothers bonding over their pure love of soul, while taking more risks than ever before.
