Radio 1 DJ and host of Channel 4’s The Album Chart Show Sara Cox steps up to present this year’s BT Digital Music Awards, to be held for the second year running at legendary London venue The Roundhouse in Camden on October 2, 2007.
The awards are bigger and better than ever before with performances from Mutya Buena, Natasha Bedingfield, Amy Macdonald, The Hoosiers, The Rakes and Newton Faulkner.
Also new for 2007 is the Best Music Hardware category, in association with Stuff Magazine for which the in-demand Nokia N95 phone and a top of the range Gibson Digital Guitar have been shortlisted.
With 20 prestigious awards up for grabs nominations including acts such as Klaxons, Manic Street Preachers, Calvin Harris, Natasha Bedingfield and The Chemical Brothers across categories including Best Rock/Indie, Pop, Urban and Electronic Artists, Best Radio Station, Best Music Store and Best Music Magazine.
Last year’s big winners, Muse are up for two nominations – Best Indie/Rock Artist and Artist of the Year. Hadouken! and Rihanna are also up for two nominations as is Lil’ Chris who performed at last year’s awards. But it’s Bloc Party who are leading the way with a massive four award nominations – more than anyone else this year.
The awards will be televised on Channel 4 on October 5, complete with a special ‘behind the scenes’ programme presented by Alex Zane as well as two 15-minute preview shows that will air in the run up to the awards with further promotion on T4.
