Ed Sheeran contributed to the late Tom Parker's medical treatment while he was battling cancer.

The Wanted singer was diagnosed with an operable brain tumour in October 2020, and after a long fight, died at the age of 33 in March.

In an excerpt of Tom's upcoming memoir, titled Hope: My Inspirational Journey, obtained by The Sun, the star revealed that the Shape of You hitmaker had been very supportive of him and his family.

"Pretty much from the moment I was diagnosed, Ed Sheeran reached out to me with an offer to do anything he could to help. Ed and I have known each other since he joined The Wanted on our tour bus during a promotion trip in America more than 10 years ago," the excerpt reads. "We've always run into each other over the years and had a great relationship.

"I've never publicly said this before (and he'll probably be mad that I'm doing it now) but Ed is a very special man - he even helped out with my medical bills when I was seeking other treatment options and having private immunotherapy."

To conclude the passage, Tom noted that he was incredibly grateful to Ed.

"It meant the world," he added.

Ed has not yet commented on the revelation.

Hope: My Inspirational Journey is set to be released on 26 May.
