Shaun Ryder says collaboration with Noel Gallagher has Black Grape vibe
20 August 2021
Shaun Ryder's collaboration with Noel Gallagher sounds like "Black Grape mixed" with the former Oasis star's sound.
The two rock legends teamed up during the COVID-19 lockdown to make music together and Shaun is delighted with the song that they have created.
He told BANG Showbiz: "It sounds good. It’s different to what Noel’s done in the main, it’s different to what he’s just been doing on his album. "The sort of thing that I got from Noel is that he wanted something that was a bit of what I’m writing, a bit Black Grape mixed with what he does. We’ve infused a bit of Black Grape and Noel together."
Shaun, 58, insists it wasn't hard to work with his long-time friend Noel, 54, because he writes music across a variety of genres, as his recent forays into the dance world on tracks like 'Black Star Dancing' and 'Blue Moon Rising' prove.
He said: "He’s right across the board, Noel. He’s got really wide musical influences, he can do what he wants."
The track is set to be released as a standalone single and does not feature on Shaun's new solo album 'Visits From Future Technology', which came out on Friday (20.08.21), nor on Noel's recent solo compilation 'Back the Way We Came: Vol. 1 (2011–2021)'.
Noel previously insisted that his pal and fellow Manchester musician Shaun is "on great form" on their song, whilst also praising his solo single ‘Mumbo Jumbo’.
