The Raconteurs are midway through recording their new album, Jack White has revealed.

The White Stripes star, who is about to begin promotion for their new album, "Icky Thumb", is also attempting to make a second LP with Brendon Benson and co.

In 2006, The Raconteurs established themselves as much more than just a White hobby and he has now confirmed that a follow-up to "Broken Boy Solidier" is imminent.

Apparently the group have recorded 12 songs so far in a Nashville studio and hope to release the new LP in 2008, White told Billboard.

"We don't know if were going to finish but we wanted to get everything down before we got busy. We have a lot bigger ideas about certain things, so we will see how far we get", he said.

The new material is described as being "very different", although White says what they have so far is "coming out great, man".
