Selena Gomez is starring in a short horror film that will debut on Instagram's new TV platform.

The pop singer has teamed up again with her pal and collaborator, Canadian filmmaker Petra Collins for the new short titled A Love Story.

Petra released several clips and stills from the film on her Instagram page on Wednesday (20Jun18), including snippets which showed Selena gargling with an eyeball, and eating icing off her legs - all accompanied by haunting music. There are also clips and pictures of her wielding an unsettling prosthetic mask in the bath, as well as being menaced by a bizarrely deformed monster in a rundown home.

According to Billboard.com, more teasers and the full short film will appear on IGTV - Instagram's new long-form video platform, which allows users to post videos of up to an hour in length.

The new short is similar in style to a music video Petra directed for Selena, promoting her collaboration with Gucci Mane, Fetish. Selena, 25, also starred with Gucci in Harmony Korine's violent 2012 crime drama Spring Breakers - the first sign she was breaking away from her clean-cut pop persona.

Her latest collaboration with Petra, 25, surprised some fans as many believed the pair had fallen out after the pop star unfollowed her pal on Instagram in March - shortly before reports linked the artist and filmmaker to Jennifer Aniston's movie star ex Justin Theroux, 46.

The Wolves singer, who is currently the most followed individual on the social networking site with more than 138 million followers - is yet to follow her friend and collaborator again.

Other stars have also begun using IGTV since its launch on Wednesday, including Kim Kardashian West, and Kevin Hart. Kim's first video was a make-up tutorial - where she and her make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic explained to fans how to get her Met Gala look.
